Our History

The Jefferson Federation of Teachers (JFT) negotiated with the Jefferson Parish School Board (School Board) to create this Health & Welfare Fund to provide supplementary health benefits for you - active Bargaining Unit employees. After intense collective bargaining negotiations, this Health & Welfare Fund (Fund) was established in May 1983.

Since then, we have remained committed to serving your needs by designing, communicating and administering health and welfare benefits. In fact, our Mission Statement is: to provide our participants with the highest quality benefits in an easily understood and accessible manner in order to respond to their employment and diverse needs.

Our Administration
A joint board of Trustees, representing the JFT and the School Board, is responsible for establishing policy, level of benefits and administration of the Fund. There are five Union Trustees and five Management Trustees. The Fund is staffed with four full-time employees.
